Activity Overview: Students will create a collage about their favorite things. Students can debrief in pairs, in small groups, or as a class.

Objective: Students will create a collage about their favorite things. Students will share some examples with classmates.

Prep Time: n/a or 5 minutes (if you create an example collage)

Duration: 15 minutes (10 minutes, collage; 5 minutes, debrief)

Assessment: Varies

Student Instructions:

  1. Sail to About Me Mountain.

  2. Open the treasure chest, and complete the thought collage: “Favorite Things.”

  3. When you finish, click SAVE at the bottom of the page. Your response will be saved in your portfolio.

  • Do objects have to cost a lot of money to have value?

  • Why are your favorite things valuable to you?

  • Why is important to have ‘favorite things’?

Lesson Steps:

  1. Explain to students that they will create a collage about their favorite things. Potentially provide an example via a collage of your favorite things projected on the board.

  2. Students should take approximately 10 minutes creating the collage.

  3. Debrief/share out as a class, incorporating Key Questions when possible.
