Activity Overview: Students will respond to a writing prompt about how they learn best.

Objective: Students will identify activities, tools, and strategies that help them feel successful in class.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Duration: 15-20 minutes for introduction and writing, 5-10 minute debrief

Student Instructions:

  1. Sail to About Me Mountain.

  2. Open the treasure chest, and select “How I Like to Learn…”

  3. Write 1-2 paragraphs answering the following questions:

 

What are some class activities that help you learn?

Are there certain strategies or tools you use that help you in school?

 
  1. When you finish, click SAVE at the bottom of the page. Your response will be saved in your portfolio.

  • When do you feel the most successful in school?

Lesson Steps:

  1. Have class login to FQI, and go to About Me Mountain. They will open the treasure chest and the “How I learn…” prompt.

  2. Preview prompt, and solicit some examples of activities/tools/strategies (examples could include: small group work, auditory).

  3. Once students finish writing, ask them to share some of what they came up with.  

  4. Remind students to save their responses.
